Black Type for Stryker Filly
Talented filly Labdien became the sixth Black Type performer for her young sire Stryker when finishing a brave second in the Group III MVRC Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley on Thursday night.
A strong winner at Moonee Valley last month and then fourth in the Group II VRC Kewney Stakes, the Chris Waller trained Labdien is racing in top form and finished her race off hard to charge home for second to the favourite Thames Court in the 1600 metre feature.
A super consistent filly that has collected a prizemoney cheque at each of her seven runs this preparation, Labdien has the overall record of three wins from nine starts with prizemoney topping $120,000.
Labdien was a $21,000 Magic Millions Weanling Sale purchase from the Widden Stud draft for long time stable client Debbie Kepitis (Ingham), who part-owned and still supports her sire Stryker, the foundation sire for Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.
She is the second winner for stakes-placed Fasliyev (USA mare Bold Moment, a daughter of Group II winner Flushed. Bold Moment was one of 67 mares covered last spring by Stryker, so a full sibling to Labdien will be expected later this year.
