Stryker Winner for Searcy
Our promising young sire Stryker featured with an interesting winner at Newcastle on Saturday with Sky Racing presenter Caroline Searcy tasting her first success as an owner/breeder.
Prepared by James Cummings, three year-old Stryker Rose was having her third start and prevailed to win over 1150 metres by half a head.
Bred by Caroline Searcy and retained to race in partnership, Stryker Rose is the second foal and first winner for unraced Thorn Park mare Rose Among Thorns, whose first foal War of the Roses was placed at her only start.
Searcy was in the original ownership of Rose Among Thorns, who showed limited ability in three barrier trials so was retired unraced.
She has however passed along far more ability to her offspring and has another weanling colt in the pipeline by Prince Arthur.
Stryker has enjoyed a great start to the year as the sire of Group I New Zealand Derby winner Rangipo, Group III placed Labdien and a string of handy winners.
