Three Bridges Sell First Australian Frankel
A Frankel filly labelled by Shadwell’s Angus Gold as the ‘most precocious’ by her sire that he has seen had the honour of being the first Southern Hemisphere bred yearling by her sire to sell in Australia when fetching $610,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Wednesday.
Bred by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock’s Darren Dance and partners, the nippy chestnut filly was consigned on their behalf by leading Victorian vendors Three Bridges Thoroughbreds and is the first foal of Group I winning South African sprinter Chocolicious.
“She’s the first precocious looking Frankel I’ve seen,” Gold told Sky Racing. “She’s a no nonsense, hardy filly that just wants to get on with it.”
Gold indicated the filly would head to the homeland of her mother to be trained by Mike de Kock.
Chocolicious is now based in Australia and produced a filly by Fastnet Rock and was subsequently covered by Exceed and Excel, so is certainly being given every chance to succeed.
