Doomben Winner for Stryker
Leading Victorian second crop sire Stryker featured with a Doomben winner on Wednesday with a first time victory for Splendid Stryker, a $42,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft.
The Kelly Schweida trained gelding was resuming from a spell and took the 1350 metre maiden by half a neck. Placed three times previously he was overdue for a win.
Bred by Three Bridges in partnership with Richard Pegum, Splendid Stryker is the second winner for imported Sakhee winner Lassarina (IRE), who comes from the family of Group I winning sprinter Continent.
Splendid Stryker is the 34th Australian winner this season for Stryker, who is already the sire of a Group I winner in Rangipo, and stands at a fee of $11,000 this spring.
