Magic Return for Unencumbered
All roads now lead to the Gold Coast with the 2016 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale to kick off on Sunday May 29 and leading Victorian vendors Three Bridges Thoroughbreds excited to showcase the first weanlings by our Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unencumbered.
A brilliantly precocious son of Testa Rossa, who also won a Magic Millions 2YO Classic along with six other Group I events, Unencumbered has been warmly received by Victorian breeders and it’s not hard to see why looking at these babes!
Lot 144 Colt Unencumbered x Tangerine Dream (Fr) Comments, Toby Liston - Half-brother to Group I winner Pear Tart and the very smart Tigger (two from two) and looks to have stakes ability. The mare continuously throws nice foals, but the speed and strength of Unencumbered has helped with this weanling for sure.
Lot 263 Colt Unencumbered x Denarii This mare leaves lovely foals and this one is no exception. First two by Stryker have made $220 and $90k, so a very commercial and popular little family. Her smart winner Baggio is almost back to the track and he has improved again with time so we are excited about his return.
Three Bridges will offer 11 youngsters by a range of sires including Bel Esprit, I Am Invincible, Fighting Sun, Denman, Toorak Toff and Zoustar, not to mention a couple more highlight lots below.
Lot 6 Colt Choisir x Malbun Lovely strong and balanced colt from a good family. He is a half-brother to Kent who looks very smart for John O’Shea. Choisir in the sales ring this year have gone to another level with a colt selling for 560k at Easter. Proven sires sell.
Lot 273 Filly So You Think x Dorf Command This filly is all quality, she has a great attitude and super movement. Her half-brother by Sebring made 420k as a yearling at Magic’s this year knocked down to James Harron. So the family is certainly on the improve, she is a lovely filly and will be in high demand, quality always is.
“We sell quality weanlings every year which invariably stand out from the crowd and we use the weanling money to move our business forward in purchasing additional mares to support our stallions,” explained Toby Liston.
“We recently purchased three quality mares for Unencumbered in Sydney for $980,000 so it’s fair to say that we need to continue to sell nice weanlings!
“Last year we sold a lovely Charge Forward colt in Sydney to Ampulla Lodge for $50k, the best pin hookers again in 2015/16, and they on-sold him for $200k in Melbourne. Good on them! “We’re cheering successful purchasers on. They do their homework, work hard and thoroughly deserve the rewards that come their way, whether that be on the track or in the yearling sale ring.”
Inspections of the Three Bridges draft are welcome from Wednesday 25th at 9:00am.
